Days of Our Lives Recap: Nicole and EJ Scatter the Ashes

Days Recap Today

Marlena finishes a call at her office when John pays her a surprise visit. They share a kiss, and John mentions that he received her text that she would be working late, so he came by to see if he could get dinner or help her in any way possible. Marlena expresses her wish for more time in her day. John then gives her a framed picture of her new grandchild, Jude, and Marlena is overjoyed for Eric and Sloan. However, she sympathizes with Nicole and acknowledges the distress she has caused by claiming to be the baby’s mother.

Back in Marlena’s office, she is hopeful that Nicole will receive the help she needs to cope with the truth. Sarah walks in and apologizes for interrupting their conversation. John leaves to get some coffee while Sarah confides in Marlena that she is terrified of making a huge mistake. She feels that she is getting sucked in by Xander again, despite learning her lesson from past experiences. Sarah is concerned about their daughter, and although they are great friends and successful co-parents, she doesn’t want to jeopardize that. Marlena advises her to stay in the moment and enjoy watching her baby girl grow up.

John comes to get coffee, and Xander uses this opportunity to ask him for advice, citing the success of John’s relationship with Marlena. John thinks Xander is not a good person, but he is a firm believer that people can change. He encourages Xander to turn over a new leaf for his daughter. When Sarah returns, Xander offers to walk her and Victoria home, and Sarah agrees. Later, John returns to Marlena’s office and wants to take her home, but she says she has work to do. John tells her that he has some surprises waiting for her as he reminds her that she is everything to him, and she responds by saying the same thing.

Days Recap Today

Johnny and Holly have just returned from a fencing game. Holly did well for a newbie and gives credit to Johnny for being an excellent teacher. Johnny gets some water and realizes that he’s a bit sore. He adds some scotch to his water. Holly asks for some too, but Johnny declines, telling her that maybe in about five years. Holly receives a text message from Tate, asking if they are hanging out tonight. She tells him that it’s not possible because she has plans. She suggests to Johnny that they order food, but he says he has dinner plans with Chanel.

Holly reminds Johnny that their parents are having dinner at the Bistro tonight, and it might be awkward for him to run into them, so she suggests that he and Chanel go another night. Johnny doesn’t agree and suggests that Holly should call Tate and hang out with him instead. Holly says that boys Tate’s age can only think about one thing and she prefers a guy who is a little more mature. Johnny rushes out to hop in the shower. Holly texts Tate to tell him that plans have changed and they should have dinner together.

Chanel asks her mother for her opinion on which dress she should wear for dinner with Johnny at the Bistro. Paulina is happy for her daughter but she hopes that they are not getting too close too fast. Chanel tells her mom that Johnny is planning a surprise for what would have been their second anniversary, and she is really looking forward to it.

Chanel asks her mother if Abe got his memory back, but Paulina says no. However, she invited him to join them for Christmas. Chanel is excited to hear this and says she will invite Johnny too. On top of that, Eli, Lani, and the twins are coming home, and it’s going to be the best Christmas ever. Paulina then proceeds to say that she has some bad news. She spoke to Eli, and Lani’s release is being delayed because of some nonsense about paperwork being backlogged, and he doesn’t think Lani will be processed before Christmas. Paulina is emotional about the whole situation, and Chanel embraces her. Chanel worries about her mom and says she is going to call Johnny and tell him to come over because they will order in instead. She is not about to leave Paulina alone. However, Paulina insists that she is fine.

EJ and Nicole are out for a meal together. EJ is happy to see Nicole feeling a bit better after bringing a gift to Eric and Sloan. Nicole says she feels like she’s coming out of the darkness a little and needs to remember everything she’s grateful for, especially Holly. She wishes Holly would spend more time with kids her own age. EJ mentions that Johnny said there was something going on between Holly and Tate.

When they return home, EJ surprises Nicole with a decorated Christmas tree that he had arranged for while they were out. Nicole thinks it’s beautiful and thanks EJ. Holly and Johnny arrive, and Holly comments that she thought Nicole wasn’t celebrating Christmas. Nicole is grateful for them and mentions how much she appreciates Holly. Johnny and Holly have to leave for their respective dates but Johnny mention that he got a hand-delivered package for them.

As they inspect the package, they realize that it’s from the funeral home. Nicole expresses her desire to open it, but EJ doesn’t think it’s necessary. Despite EJ’s objections, Nicole insists on opening it, and inside they find their baby’s ashes. Nicole reveals that whenever she feels like things are getting better, something else brings her down.

EJ suggests that laying their boy to rest could help them find closure. He offers to arrange a service and have their son interred in the DiMera mausoleum surrounded by family. However, Nicole wants it to be just the two of them, and she wants to spread their son’s ashes somewhere where he feels close by. They go outside under the stars, and as EJ goes to get her scarf, Nicole says a prayer, asking for forgiveness for her past sins. They spread their boy’s ashes, and then they go back inside, where they hang an ornament on the tree in memory of their son.

Days Recap Today

Holly meets with Tate and tells him that she would rather spend the evening with him. Tate boasts of having the Basic Black gold card, suggesting they can have a luxurious time. While they are talking, Holly spots Johnny and Chanel walking by and tells Tate they should have dinner at the Bistro. Tate agrees and says she can choose whatever she wants, as the sky is the limit.

At the Bistro, Johnny and Chanel are looking over the menu when Holly and Tate arrive. Chanel is surprised to see them there and Johnny mentions her that he had told Holly they were having dinner there that night. Chanel admits that she thought she was wrong about Holly having a crush crush on Johnny, but now she is not so sure. Johnny suggests that they forget about them and enjoy their dinner together. After Chanel shares her worries about Lani, Johnny offers to talk to his dad and use his connections to help her out. He tells Chanel that he is happy to help his former mother-in-law, especially since you never know when your former might become your future.

Meanwhile, Tate tells Holly that he knows why she chose the Bistro. He accuses her of using him to get to Johnny, even though she denies knowing he would be there. Tate is angry and tells Holly that he is done with her games. He says he cannot wait to go back to school and warns her that Johnny will never see her the way she sees him. Tate storms out, leaving Holly alone at the table. Holly watches as Johnny and Chanel kiss.
